Maintaining your saddle stool: here’s how!
You’ve bought a saddle chair – fantastic! Of course, you want to enjoy it for as long as possible. With these handy tips, you’ll know exactly how to maintain your saddle stool.

Regularly check if everything works
Regularly check whether the height adjustment still works smoothly. Also inspect other adjustable parts, if your stool has them. For example, see if you can easily adjust the seat angle. Is your Balance mechanism (if you have one) still moving smoothly? Check whether the wheels still roll properly and whether any lumbar support is stable and easy to adjust. It’s also important that all screws and bolts are tightened properly. Often, issues are easier to fix if you catch them early. That’s why it’s important to check your saddle stool regularly. You can do this yourself, but the best option is to have one of our technicians do it. They know exactly what to look for and are very familiar with our products. This way, you can continue enjoying your stool with confidence.

Be mindful in your daily use
Use your stool the way it was intended. Don’t use it as a step stool (for your own safety!) and make sure you adopt the right sitting posture. A saddle stool is designed to minimize the strain on your body. Conversely, you also minimize the strain on the stool itself when you use the right ergonomic posture. Avoid unnecessary pressure on both yourself and your saddle stool. Also, respect the maximum weight capacity of the stool. To prevent discoloration and drying, don’t place it in direct sunlight. For example, put the saddle chair under your desk when you’re not using it. To reduce wear on the castors, you could consider purchasing a floor mat. In any case, make sure the wheels are suitable for your type of flooring. And when you clean the floor, don’t leave the stool standing there. Move it aside and place it back when the floor is clean and dry.

Clean your saddle chair properly
By cleaning your saddle stool regularly, you keep it neat and fresh – so much nicer! Do you have a fabric upholstery, such as Trevira or Flex? Use a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery attachment to remove dust and dirt. Treat stains with a mild cleaning agent and a soft cloth. Avoid aggressive cleaning products. When in doubt, check the manual or contact us.
For Stamskin, simply use a lukewarm cloth, possibly with a mild pH-neutral soap (free of acidic or alkaline additives). For stains, use Stamskin Cleaner. Always dry the saddle chair thoroughly after cleaning.

Cleaning PUxx and other parts
Unlike other types of upholstery, PUxx can be cleaned with disinfectants based on 70% alcohol, chlorine, ammonia, or acid. You often find PUxx on saddle stools in hospitals or other environments with strict hygiene requirements. However, do not apply solvents or abrasive cleaners, and always dry the surface with a dry cloth afterward.
You can easily clean the wheels with a simple damp cloth. Do this regularly so that dirt does not build up. Treat coated and chrome parts in the same way. Want to be more thorough? Then use water and a mild cleaning agent without abrasives. The thin tube on the gas lift keeps itself clean. It is coated with grease and equipped with a grease scraper. Make sure this greased part never comes into contact with water or cleaning products!
Hopefully, with these tips, you’ll enjoy your saddle stool for a long time! Not sure which material you have or doubtful about a certain cleaning agent? Feel free to contact us! We’ll be happy to advise you. You can also easily make an appointment to have your saddle chair checked.
